Hello Friends !

Yes the shortest daylight hours of our year.
It's a time of reflection and " regrouping" for me.
I am ready for a new year , and each January 1,
I pray for a better year than the last.
2014, was not an easy one.
I am hopeful in 2015 !

S U C C E S S F U L L A U N C H !

Our Kickstarter Campaign is up and " live ".
Let the chips fall where they may , and I realize that 45% of crowd-funding
campaigns fail, I still have a very good feeling about this engagement
with my fans and friends through our  Kickstarter Campaign.
 I am thoroughly enjoying a feeling of accomplishment.

The end of November just flew by. The weeks are filled with planning
for our Kickstater Campaign. This has proved to be a lot of work in setting
up an account , Providing incredibly personal information onto their application,
As well as many many other hoops to jump through that are deemed essential
to assemble a project for review on Kickstarter. I am finally ready to launch the project!

There are opportunities to perform live during the month of December.
I plan on making an appearance Dec.9 as part of the Vegas on the Mic presentation
at a well known Las Vegas venue  The Bunkhouse. Hopefully, if all goes well,
there will be video to share from the evening's performance.
I am in the process of booking other live shows this month,

VETERAN'S DAY

G R E E T I N G S  !

I am feeling grateful for all of life's blessings .
I posted a photo of my Father's grave on FB today.
I received many " likes" and a few posts from friends remembering
his kindness , and generosity.  I am proud to have had him as my Father.
I am remembering him tonight, and his service to our country in WWII.
His strength. His faults. His dedication. His humor. His mannerisms .
Thanks for the song, Dad. I miss you.

 . . . .  okay, so I must have jinxed myself by feeling too confident
about business possibilities.  Timing is everything.

November full moon is brightly illuminating the desert landscape.
I am feeling energized by this fall season coming on here in Nevada.

We are gearing up for a Kickstarter campaign.
The launch  will happen soon.  more on this later.

OCT. is a favorite month .

I may have made a business contact who will guide
me towards a songwriting collaboration unknown to
me thus far. Success is possibly awaiting me and all of   my efforts ,
and tenacity in connecting with musical friends in Las Vegas!

I've always loved the crisp early mornings during late September.
Many good memories of the season's change after what is normally the
most brutal summertime heat of the entire year throughout the month
of August.. I do recall several years of summer  travel to the cooler New England
states during August, and feeling somewhat refreshed by the moderate heat
and Atlantic Ocean breezes prominent to northern climates.

A U G U S T

The beginning of this month included recording sessions booked with
Tone Factory , here in Las Vegas. We wanted to capture a "live" sound
performance, and our pre production , as well as time spent in the recording
atmosphere during the session ,  both proved  to be very successful ! Awesome results.
August always seems to drag on , and on , and . . .
Well,  good  progress is underway  currently on the  project.

Summertime Baseball Madness !

Hey Everybody !
Tonight the Chicago Cubs played against the Colorado Rockies.
The game took over 6 hours to complete. Wrigley Field  has never witnessed
a 16 inning ballgame. Cubs win in the bottom of the sixteenth 4 - 3 .
Tam and I watched from the comfort of our home as this game dragged on and on  . .
Finally , around 11:15 pm PST , John Baker scored the winning run on a sac fly.

feeling grateful. satisfied with the outcome.

S U M M E R 2014

  G    R     E       E       T      I      N      G       S      !

As July becomes a portion of the summer experience , we are happy and creative
and enjoying the days of long light, in the sense that the solstice is over and soon the
daylight hours shorten ever so slightly.  I am becoming somewhat used to the desert heat.
The temps are usually 100* plus, and the humidity is lower than the Midwest, by far, unless
monsoon season hits, bringing daily rainfall , and heavy air. Currently , humidity is prominent,
causing yours truly to spend as much time in AC as possible, ( thank you) .

The recording project moves forward , with LK adding his engineering talents on a regular
basis, via the internet. All is well with our home studio recordings / Sony acid programs /
trial and error microphone placement. Lots to learn. A L L G O O D .

J U N E / St. Louis

A successful  adventure in the midwest.
I reunited with old music friends for a concert
June13 at Focal Point in Maplewood Mo.
There were several video cameras capturing the
evening's activities. The show came off well , and was
well received by an audience filled with familiar faces, and
many fans from many years ago. I had the pleasure of performing
with a full band, making the song renditions sparkle  with their personal flavor.

Saturday, June 14, I performed solo / acoustic onstage at the
legendary Blueberry Hill / Duck Room as the opener for the band
Rusted Root . We have a recording of the 8 song set , which could provide
us with fodder for our current work in progress / record / which we hope to
finish sometime during this year. I feel as though my set was well received by the
full house, waiting to hear Rusted Root.

June moves us toward solstice on the 21st, I believe.
Our energy is high . Creativity is flowing and I will use this to make more music!

FOCAL POINT CONCERT JUNE 13 in St. Louis, Mo.

I am looking forward to our visit to St. Louis .
I am optimistic about the upcoming performance
at the Focal Point .  There has been a lot of scheduling ,
and planning with regard to the evening's production tasks.
The concert will begin  at 8pm , with music from a duo known as
Flea Bitten Dawgs . There have built a name for themselves
in the St. Lois metro area over the past couple of years, and
they've recently expanded their live performance experiences
by touring the Midwestern states , as well as a few concerts in the South.

FORW O RD ON RECORDING PROJECT

We successfully completed basic tracks for the next song
set for our new album. The song's title: " soldier for your life".
The session at Tone Factory on May 14 went smoothly, and I
feel as though I've established a good working relationship with
Vinnie , the owner / recording engineer of this pro recording studio.

I have had a great time planning the concert in St. Louis Mo.
scheduled for Friday June 13.  The  Focal Point , in Maplewood Mo.,
will host our evening of music and we are excited to be performing
in the St. Louis area once again. Tamara will be accompanying me
on this journey and she shall undoubtedly meet a few new friends.
Cardinal baseball could also be in the mix during our visit.

FULL M OON MAY

We took in the Gibson Acoustic Asylum showcase this
evening. Beautiful Spring weather under the almost full moon.

I performed a mini set, a couple of new tunes, and a new cover
that I enjoy spending time working through onstage ,  my
early renditions of a fine song. It was a good night, and hopefully
I made some new fans of my music.

This new week brings good progress towards recording my new songs.

on our 12 month Calendar year. 
May is transition. We continue our progress
 regarding the recording project. This month
is the kickoff for work on the new ' single ' .

I've  been recently recorded and there are new

our recording project is in forward motion and some details regarding
a live studio recording remain  somewhat sketchy : as this new month unfolds in the
spring of 2014. Once our session has been recording here in Las Vegas,
I am hopeful upon an outcome, via music files dancing around the  "interweb  "for
mixing and mastering , that  we will produce a fresh new energy which will be gratefully
accepted by everyone involved with mongomon.

A week or so ago, we watched a film about the
final years in the life of Levon Helm. He was the drummer
and familiar voice for The Band.
His story is a great one. The film covers archival footage of the
legendary group, from backing Dylan, to playing Woodstock,
chronicling Richard Manuel's and Rick Danko's deaths and the
eventual split surrounding their landmark concert The Last Waltz.
Levon released a grammy winning album just before his death in 2012.
" Aint in it for my Health" is this film's title. Library DVD rental.

FULL MOON / Blood Moon

tonight the moonlight is bursting vibrantly from the
evening sky. This must be an omen of some sort? change?
Lunar eclipse is scheduled for 11:30pm or so this evening.
Astrology and Astronomy have held my interests for as far
back as I can remember, even as a 6 or 7 year old, this has
been intriguing to me. moon lit desert landscape. newness.

Net w o r k i n g Locally in Las Vegas

The month of April brings me some live performance
opportunities , and I have been feeling as though my music is at the least ,
being appreciated by an entirely new audience.

Spring is a great season for everybody . I  have been constantly 
 networking here in Las Vegas. The casinos hire musicians. and cover bands.
Most venues with live bands need to provide their patrons with the
option to gamble. Popular methods for local places include video poker
mounted in the top of the bar, or machines near the bathrooms which
happily take your money too.

DTLV  is Downtown Las Vegas. This Arts District section of the once
run down Fremont St. provides a fresh approach to nightlife .
Neon and polished steel , Tiki Hut patio/sidewalk dining ,
posh martini bar. The area of East Fremont is rife beyond imagination.
I like it !  For some reason, this area , reminds me of early nineties era
Austin TX. during those crazy south by southwest outings. Civic Progress!
I am guessing these urban  masterminds are of the millennium generation. yep.

The energy usually feels right whenever we visit this part of town.
I've recently found out about the Scullery. A bright new star added to the
varied landscape of the downtown arts district.  After recently meeting with
a key person involved there, I came away with a notion that I might be well included
in the mix of their entertainment schedule, in the near future. I remain optimistic .

LIFE CUBE B U R N

.  .  .   .   .   .    tonight there is an Art Event Happening
in the Downtown Arts District of Las Vegas.  If you have
heard of Burning Man, then you are on the same page here.
There is a 2 story tall structure which has been constructed in
a large parking lot, it is known as The Life Cube Project.

takes place around 7:30pm PST.  A Celebration of aspirations,
dreams , positive awareness , and "LIFE".
Life Cube Project is an interactive community art installation,
created by Scott Cohen AKA ' Skeeter '. Tamara and I are planning
on attending . Vernal Equinox  celebration for us all !

As the seasons bring new life especially during the Vernal Equinox , we begin to create and reflect
upon new opportunities , aspirations towards progress and  personal  growth .  S P R I N G T I M E .
All is well in the studio. I have a superb team working along with me . Hopefully the new tunes
will transfer positivity both lyrically and sonically to every listener.
There are new avenues of hope revealing themselves here in Las Vegas, professionally speaking.
Our Downtown District is alive with art and live music. I shall report on this shortly.

E X P O S U R E

Greetings Friends !

Although I promised to blog more regularly,
I am only wanting to post here when there is
something to say.  Plus . . .  We are writing / working
on new original material and focus is ultimately necessary.
 Daylight  savings time is here. Spring is here. Winter is gone.
I performed at a showcase at Hard Rock Café in Las Vegas
tonight. I was very well received, and I feel good about the
experience. My first adventure at this well known venue  was successful.
I was one of several songwriters performing as a  part of the
weekly Gibson Guitar sponsored event. Warm environment. Great sound.
Hopefully I will be invited again to this showcase in the near future.
Progress is apparent  on our new record.
I am going to say that we might have something
worth listening to by early May. Maybe.
I shall be back here again before too long. Maybe .

FEB R U A R Y 15

mY  Birthday weekend was greeted by a full moon over the
Las Vegas skies. My lovely Tamara made special arrangements
for two fantastic dining experiences in celebration . I was also
treated to a day trip to Valley Of Fire National Park. Very unique
landscape , somewhat similar to Zion . She had another surprise for
my Bday gift, We will be attending a concert later this month at the
beautiful Smith Center here in LV, to hear Pat Metheny and his new band.
I am lucky to have her with me every step of the way, 2014 here we come.

MID WINTER EXPECTATIONS

G R E E T I N G S  !
As mentioned we have acquired a few small additions
to our microphone selection . I will be interested to see how
quality recording will be accomplished using these new instruments.
Home recording has become the necessity for many songwriters in diverse
musical genres. I remain positive in action and primed  for considerable trial
and error regarding the recording process. Full speed ahead.

We are beginning the new year with new gear.
I purchased a laptop with recording capabilities
and the projects here at mongomon are moving forward
once again . Aspirations Abound !

 . . . today was a beautiful mid- winter afternoon hike at Red Rock Canyon
with my beautiful partner Tamara. Our trail was moderate on the difficult
scale, and just 4 miles roundtrip. We both knew our Sunday afternoon was not
going to be spent watching sports this week ! 

8 J A N U A R Y

 All is well at mongomon office today.
I am recalling how completely exhausted
I was on this date 2 years ago.  I had just completed
clearing out my 2nd floor living space ; the Flat I had
been renting for more than 8 long and lonely years.
The day prior , I received help in moving all of my stuff
into the 16' UHaul that I was about to drive across the US
to land in Las Vegas.  My good friends had given me 5 hours
of grueling work carrying my belongings down the stairway
and out to the truck to be loaded for 3 days of driving.
Thank You, my "Buds" for all of the good energy you graciously
gave to propel my life onward into the future. Grateful .

2014 Here We Go !

GREETINGS !

The year ended on a semi positive note. There is closure with regard
to Family Estate issues , bringing about new beginnings.
I have new horizons in sight for this new year with music and recording
setting the immediate course of action. There is much to look forward to.
